So the first step is you will log into the platform as an instructor. Once logged in, on the top left menu, instructor will find the option of ‘Tests’. Under the ‘Tests’ page, instructor will see the list of tests which have already created, and on the bottom-right, they will find an option of creating a test.

‘About the Test ‘ is step number one for creating a test. In this tab, enter the ‘Title’ ‘Description’, ‘Instructions’ and define the ‘Basic Settings’, for the test. Let’s say this is a test on mathematics; I will put some description as well as the instructions.

Next, the basic settings section is displayed, where instructors have to define weightages, decide if the test would or would not have negative marking. If there is negative marking, then what percentage of marks will be deducted corresponding to every wrong answer, will be selected from the negative marking dropdown.

Instructors may want to keep a time duration for the test. They may do so by defining the duration in the ‘Test Duration’ field. The advanced settings section has more options to configure for the tests. So the first option is how many tests attempts the students- ‘Unlimited’ or ‘Fixed.’ If there are fixed attempts then how many attempts?

The next question is ‘Validity of the test’? Learners could attempt the test ‘Anytime,’ or instructor may also specify a timeline between which the students must avail the test.

Should the learners be allowed to ‘Pause’ the test while they are attempting it? This can be defined in the “Test Pause” field.

Review Tests option will be used to configure whether the learners should be allowed to review that assessment? While they are reviewing, do you want to show them the correct answers or not? Instructor may choose it from “Show answers” field. The last setting is of shuffling the sections questions and the answer choices (which implies that each user will be getting the same tests, with re-ordered question and answers).

Once all these settings are defined, click on ‘Next’. In the second tab ’Add Questions’, we will start adding questions to the assessment. So there are multiple ways in which instructors may add a question.

Let us get started with the first option which is adding questions one-by-one. There are several options here such as ‘Multiple Choices’, ‘Written and Spoken’ (an essay type) and ‘Fill in the Blanks’. Let us get started with ‘Multiple Choice’.

The first space “Stimulus” is where instructors have to enter the question title. Then in multiple answer options field, provide the options with at least one of them being the correct answer. Next, instructor needs to validate which particular answer option is the correct answer. So let us say for this question, option B is the correct choice. In the validate section, instructor will choose option B and click on ‘Create’, and that particular question will get added as part of the assessment.

Another way of adding questions is, instructor may choose it from an existing test. Instructor will click on here (‘Import’ and then click on ‘From another Test’) where all the tests are listed. Let us say, the instructor wants to pull questions from one particular test, and he/she needs to select the test and click on ‘Add Questions’. So the moment I have cloned/imported an existing test, all the questions which were in that particular assessment will now become a part of this particular test. This is the second way of adding a question.

The last but not the least, another way to create a test is to ‘Import’ the questions from a ‘CSV File’. Now, this is very handy when instructors are adding many questions, and they do not want to create them manually. In that case, they have to simply choose a file and upload a pre-existing CSV format. Once the CSV gets uploaded, all the questions are imported successfully. The sections were created, as per the settings, which were defined within the CSV file. Let's have a look at how instructors may create the questions within a particular CSV file. So, download the file sample CSV file. In this file, the basic settings will be defined, which instructors need to go through, before beginning to add questions.

The first field is ‘Question Title’. Second is answer choice number 1. If this answer choice is a correct answer, then instructor needs to write ‘Yes’ corresponding to this answer choice. If this answer choice is not the correct answer, then enter write ‘No’ in corresponding column. Similarly, the adjacent columns have answer choice number 2, answer choice number 3, and so on and so forth.

So this is how one-by-one instructors may start adding up questions. Once the instructor has added the questions, they may save it, and upload a CSV file just the way we saw a while ago.

So, let's go ahead and publish this test.  Immediately the instructor will see a successful message informing that ‘Your test has been created’.

Then we will close this window and refresh the page. The test on mathematics has been created.

Now whenever the instructor wants to use this particular assessment within one of his course, he/she may directly go to the schedule and clone the existing test.
